Powders for the Coating of Metals
Thermoplastic powders coatings, Abcite® and Flamulit®,
are designed to provide long-term protection as well as decorative
finish to metal items. In addition, they offer special properties
such as such as soft touch, noise dampening, impact resistance,
enhanced corrosion resistance, which makes them the coating of choice
for various applications.
Abcite® and Flamulit® products are available in a wide
range of colors and can be easily applied by the fluidized bed or
by the spraying process. Spraying techniques include electrostatic
or hot flocking. Both product ranges are applied without primer;
a classic surface treatment such as degreasing is enough. For increased
adhesion sand blasting might be required. Typical applications include
coatings for wirework, supermarket trolleys, pipe fittings, valves,
tubes, pipe heating systems, lamp posts and traffic poles, water
tanks, inside lining of fire extinguishers, automotive parts and
many more. Grades for food contact are also available.
The Coathylene® product range are mainly used as fine powders
of polyethylene's, polypropylene's, and ethylvinylacetate's as additives
for fiber- reinforced polyesters, binder for the manufacturing of
dry cell batteries, anti-caking for elastomer production, structural
additive for paints, sintering of metals, rapid prototyping, special
printing paper and many other specialty applications.
Coathylene® fine powders are produced through a patented chemical
process, which allows achieving a particle size in the ranges from
10 to 30 microns. The Coathylene® product range also comprises
polymer powders obtained by ambient or cryogenic milling. The most
important applications of these coarser powders are as thermo-adhesives
and as protective coatings for the textile industry and composites industry.
Increasing demand for environment-friendly products in the automotive
industry is also opening new markets such as adhesives and binders
in the manufacturing of car interior finishes.
